Curacao - Welcome to paradise

Hey :)

Nach einer kleinen Auszeit – Jetlag bedingt – bin ich nun endlich für euch wieder da und zurück im etwas kälteren Wien.

Die Woche Curacao verging wie im Flug und war echt toll! Mit 10:30 Stunden Flug erreicht man Curacao jeden Dienstag von Düsseldorf aus. Das tolle an Curacao ist, dass die Insel das ganze Jahr schönes Wetter mit 30 Grad Durchschnittstemperatur bietet. Während meines Aufenthalts hatten wir beispielsweise nicht einen Tag Regen! Curacao ist eine niederländische Insel, die in der Karibik liegt und vor allem wegen seinem blauen Likör bekannt ist. Doch die Insel bietet noch viel, viel mehr. Inbesondere die Hauptstadt der Insel Willemstadt, mit seinen bunten Häusern, sollte man nicht missen. Hier meine persönlichen Geheimtipps für euch, die alle in, oder in der Nähe von Willemstadt liegen!

Übernachten

Scuba Lodge Boutique Hotel

Ein absoluter Geheimtipp! Direkt am Meer gelegen, in einem knallblauen Gebäude gelegen, befindet sich eines der tollsten Hotels der Insel. Warum? Moderne Zimmer, TOP Service und die Lage machen dieses Hotel zum Geheimtipp! Nicht missen sollte man auch die leckeren Cocktails und das BBQ am Abend. Das Beste ist sicherlich das freundliche Top motivierte junge Personal!

PM78 Urban Oasis Curacao

Unweit des Scuba Lodge Boutique Hotel liegt diese Apartment- Anlage. Diese sehr familär geführte Anlage ist modern und wunderschön eingerichtet. Auch von dieser Anlage geht man nur 10 min maximum zu Fuß bis zur Innenstadt!

Auto

Wer die Insel entdecken möchte (und das sollte man auf jeden Fall – so liegen die schönsten Strände quer über die Insel verteilt) sollte sich ein Auto mieten. Wer auch hier das besondere sucht – dem lege ich DUCKS UNITED ans Herz. Mit der Ente quer über die Insel sausen hat was und macht viel, viel Spaß! Übrigens – sollte man angehupt werden ist das auf Curacao nett gemeint und gleichzusetzen mit einem Hallo J  

Essen

Steak and Ribs

Dieses Restaurant liegt direkt am Meer, in den Waterfront Arakaden (ehem. Befestigungsanlage), auf einer Stelzen gebauten Terasse und bietet einen Traum Meerblick mit Traum Essen. Probieren sollte man auf jeden Fall das Putensteak und die diversen Fische vom Grill.

Roozedaeles

Das Roozendaeles ist ein von außen sehr unscheinbares aber bereits sehr einladendes Lokal. Das besondere? Man speist draußen auf einer großen Terasse/ Garten. Der Besitzer selbst sorgt für das Wohl der Gäste. Probieren muss man unbedingt den Hausgemachten Karibischen Salat!

Strände

Die Insel Curacao bietet wirklich Stände für jeden Geschmack. Doch die 2 Strände die mir am besten gefallen, bestechen durch feinsandigen Sand, glasklarem Wasser und tollen Schnorchelmöglichkeiten.

Seheswürdigkeiten & Shopping

Curacao ist eine von starken europäischen Einfluss geprägt Insel – dies zeigt sich insbesodere in der Hauptstadt der Insel Willemstadt. Die bunten Häuser erinnern nämlich stark an jene in Amsterdam. Ein Spaziergang durch die Altstadt mit den kleinen Shops lohnt auf jeden Fall. Generell gibt es viele Malls in Curacao die zum Shoppen einladen. Auch ein Victoria Secret Shop findet sich in der Altstadt.

Ansehen sollte man sich unbedingt die schwimmenden Märkte mit seinen frischen Waren, welche direkt von den Schiffen verkauft werden! Auch die Brücke, welche die Stadt teilt, sollte man sich anschauen, da diese bei Einlaufen von Schiffen in die Stadt auf die Seite gezogen wird! Für alle Delphinliebhaber- lohnt sich ein Besuch im Seaquarium, wo auch die Chance besteht mit Delphinen zu schwimmen.

Party

Willemstadt ist definitiv eine Stadt die niemals schläft (außer an Feiertagen). Wer richtig abfeiern will sollte ins Bermuda gehen. Moderate Preise und 3 Dancefloors laden ein, die ganze Nacht dort zu verbringen. Am Wochenende sollte man unbedingt ins Wet & Wild einem OpenAir Club, der direkt am Meer liegt und zum Tanzen einlädt. Sicher habe ich mich zu jeder Zeit gefühlt - dennoch sollte man immer wachsam sein!

Fazit: Ab nach Curacao und erlebt selbst ein Stück europäische Karibik!

After a short break – due to jet lag - I am finally back and back in cold Vienna.
The one week at the Caribbean island Curacao flew by really fast but was really great! Within 10:30 hours flight from Dusseldorf you can reach the island every Tuesday with Air Berlin. The great thing about Curacao is that the island offers year-round beautiful weather with 30 degree average temperature. During my stay we had, for example, not a day rain! Curacao is a Dutch island located in the Caribbean and is especially known for its blue liqueur. But the island offers much, much more. In particular, the island's capital Willemstad, with its colorful houses, you should not miss. Here are my personal tips for you, which are all located in or near Willemstad!

Hotel

Scuba Lodge Boutique Hotel
An absolute must! Situated directly next to the sea, in a bright blue building, it is one of the greatest hotels on the island. Why? Modern rooms, TOP service and the great location make this hotel AMAZING! You should not miss the delicious cocktails and the BBQ in the evening. The best is certainly the top motivated young friendly staff!

PM78 Urban Oasis Curacao
Near the Scuba Lodge Boutique Hotel you will find these apartments. This family-run complex is modern and beautifully decorated. The distance to city center – 10 minutes walking.

Car

Those wishing to explore the island (and you should definitely do that- as the most beautiful beaches are scattered across the island) should rent a car. Anyone looking for something special here – should have a closer look on DUCKS UNITED. Driving around the island with this car makes lots and lots of fun! By the way – if someone honks it is like greeting J


Eating

Steak and Ribs
This restaurant is right on the sea, in the Waterfront Arakaden (former fortress), built on stilts on a terrace and offers a magnificent view of the sea with fantastic food. You should definitely try the turkey steak and the various fish from the grill.

Roozedaeles
The Roozendaeles is a very unassuming from the. The special? Dine outside on a large terrace / garden. The owner himself takes care of the welfare of the guests. You absolutely must try the homemade Caribbean salad!

Beaches

The island of Curacao offers beaches for every taste. But the most beautiful beaches that I like best, feature fine sand, crystal clear water and great snorkeling opportunities.

Sightseeing & Shopping

Curacao is an island marked by strong European influence - this shows up in the island's capital Willemstad. The colorful are very similar of those in Amsterdam. A walk through the old town with small shops is definitely worth. Generally, there are many malls inviting for shopping. There is also a Victoria's Secret Store located in the old town.

You should definitely visit the floating markets with its fresh goods, which are sold directly from the ships! Also the bridge that divides the town, is a must to visit! Why? Because the bridge is put away when a big cruise is entering the city. For all dolphin lovers- it is worth a visit in the Seaquarium, where there is a chance to swim with dolphins

Party

Willemstad is definitely a city that never sleeps (except holidays). Whoever wants to party -  should go to Bermuda. Moderate prices and 3 dance floors invite you to spend the night there. On the weekend you should definitely visit the Wet & Wild OpenAir Club, which overlooks the sea and invites you to dance.

Conclusion: experience a part of European Caribbean!
